| Abstract: |
Oracle 11g has the ability to cache the results of
queries and results of function calls in the
Shared Pool. Therefore, repeated executions of a
SQL query can retrieve the result set from the SQL
Query Result Cache without having to “revisit” all
the actual blocks to solve for the answer.
Additionally, the Cross-Session PL/SQL Function
Result Cache contains the results of function
calls for specific combinations of input
parameters. Sinse the results are stored in the
Shared Pool, and as the name “Cross Session”
implies, the results can be reused by any session
calling the same function with the same
parameters. This presentation will describe the
management and administration of the SQL Query and
PL/SQL Function Result caches, and the performance
benefits of both.
