Abstract:
Oracle has been committed to meeting the growing security needs of customers since version 8i with the Oracle Advanced Security features.  In version 10g rel.2 Oracle introduced the Transparent Data encryption functionality to secure data at rest at the table column level.  Furthermore, in version 11g Oracle continues its commitment to security by enhancing the Transparent Data Encryption features.

In this presentation "Transparent Data Encryption Explained", Cheryl Lei Bryll, will explain how Oracle's newest advanced security feature fulfills the requirements of the regulatory bodies such as PCI DSS and SOX.  Cheryl will address the key challenges with securing data at rest with Transparent Data Encryption such as: explaining when it is appropriate to use TDE, restrictions to using TDE, and providing demos to fully describe the steps needed to include TDE within your organization.

Speaker Bio:

Cheryl  Lei Bryll has more than 11 years Oracle technical experience as both a DBA as well as an Oracle Certified Professional Developer.  Cheryl started her professional career in the accounting field and progressed into supporting large accounting ERP systems in a business analyst \ Oracle developer role.  Cheryl has also taught the OCP courses for Developers at St. Petersburg Jr. College in Florida.  For the last 5+ years Cheryl has work extensively as an Oracle DBA performing core DBA and  Oracle 11i Application DBA skills.  Her areas of interest are performance tuning challenges in large transactional databases, replication methods, OLAP data warehouses, Oracle security, as well as high availability techniques and challenges.
