| Abstract: |
Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools were
developed in the mid 1980’s to provide a process
for software development and maintenance,
automatically provide a complete audit trail of
changes during an application’s life cycle and
minimize risk during the development and change
processes. As database technology developed and
the database became a more integral part of
delivering application functionality, these tools
were not extended to provide the same value to the
database developers and administrators. Various
software tools, under the general label of
‘Compare and Sync’ were developed to help the
database specialist cope with their change
processes. With the advent of various compliance
requirements on the change process, this void of
complete SCM functionality became more apparent.
The July 8th presentation at the Charlotte OUG
will review this area from a functional and value
standpoint and introduce a new generation of
database change technology that fills this need.
